Despite all of the water being solidly frozen around here these days, I'm still being drawn to the idea of water in motion through the landscape. "Spillway" continues on from my last painting, which I talked about in the last post. The way the water flows through and around the land forms fascinates me. In "Eddy", finished just the other day, I looked closer at the water surface and how the currents swirl, causing ripples and waves that distort both reflections and the view down into the stream. |

I'm still having fun with faces and stencils. The rhythm and repetition of the stenciling brings this young woman to the fore, floating on a sea of colour and pattern. The freshness of the image and colours of spring made me think of the traditional kore of archaic Greek statuary, but translated to modern times.
