Mountain Lake PBS will be airing a segment on the Trans-Canada 150 x Two exhibition from last summer on their Mountain Lake Journal show next Friday. I was one of the artists in the Brush Off competition, which is where I met Thom Hallock of Mountain Lake PBS. My entry was Roadside II, one of the inspiration pieces for the Trans-Canada project. Thom and his crew chatted with me about the piece and the project, and later came to the Trans-Can150 vernissage at Galerie203. Thank you, Thom and MLPBS! |

Yay, its done. Working in greens makes my waiting for spring to arrive less frustrating. Let me know what you think about this piece. I love hearing feedback.
Working on the background using tone-on-tone. Have to be careful not to mess up the trees too much, but I can always go back at them later.
Actually, the flowers have shrunk since I posted an earlier version of this. I didn't like it and almost painted over it. However, I very much like what it turned into - a more classical tabletop still life that feels much more balanced. I'm not totally sure it's done yet, but it makes me happy to look at it now.
You can see the original at my upcoming solo show in Montreal, opening May 23 at Galerie 203 Montreal. There should even be some actual flowers blooming by then! |
