| There's nothing like a deadline to concentrate the mind. I'm very concentrated right now! My solo show at Arta Gallery in Toronto's Distillery district runs from May 17-23 and I still have a couple of paintings that I want to get done before the show. I just finished one this morning - another in my Canadian Malt plant series from Montreal - and have already begun drawing out the next image on the canvas. It'll be another in the same series, but with the pink penthouse this time. I hope I can get it done in time! I'm very excited about the Arta Gallery show. While I have had several solo shows in Montreal over the past several years, this is the first time I'll have a gallery all to myself in Toronto. The show runs through the May 23 long weekend - if you'll be in Toronto then, I'd love to see you at the gallery! Speaking of gallery shows, this is the last week to see the Federation of Canadian Artists Spring Thaw show at Art of Emotions Gallery, also in Toronto. Three of my pieces are in that exhibition, too. They're the biggest canvases in the gallery, so you can't miss them! I've been having discussions with Corinne at Galerie 203 Montreal about another show there later in the summer. No dates are confirmed yet, so stay tuned. Meanwhile, I hope you're all enjoying the developing Spring. We've had several visits from a gaggle of wild turkeys lately, the rabbits are munching the tips of the new growing grass, and occasional flocks of ducks and geese are still passing us on their way north. Our irises are bravely poking their leaf tips above ground, but there are no flowers anywhere in sight yet. I hope mud season won't last too terribly long and the meltwater will disappear quickly. But then, I'm in the studio all day busily painting. Stay well everyone! Carol |
