If you didn't yet have a chance to see my Places and Spaces show at Galerie 203, you're in luck! The show has been extended for a week and now runs through August 17. The new paintings I mentioned in my last post are in the gallery now in addition to the rest of the collection. Following on in this urban series is a scene from my trip to Rome last year. I've been wanting to paint this for a long time and finally got around to it this week. It's a view from a restaurant in front of the Villa Medici down onto a cobblestone street full of shoppers and tourists in the late afternoon. The glare of the sun reflecting off the cobbles put all the people into silhouette, seemingly walking on water. This is a big canvas - 40" x 60" - that makes me feel like I'm falling into the scene. Have a great weekend, everyone! |

it's the overall impression of the construction and ruin that I wanted to portray rather than the details of textures that I incorporated into the malt plant and staircases.
You can see the Canadian Malt painting at Galerie 203 this weekend. I still have a tiny bit of work to do on the grain silos - if I get that done today I might take it down to the gallery as well. Have a great weekend, everyone! |
