I just heard that I have been granted Senior Signature Status by the Canadian Federation of Artists!! I am excited and humbled and happy, all at the same time. The Federation is currently hosting an exhibition of works by the 18 members this fall who received either Associate or Senior Signature status at the Federation Gallery in Vancouver. The exhibition is rather appropriately titled "Success!", and runs through October 30. You can view the exhibition live, of course, or on line at the gallery website. So what does this mean? I'm among only 6% of artist members of the Federation who have achieved Senior status and am qualified to serve on exhibition juries and award committees. I can show my work in Signature artist-only exhibitions. And I can now put SFCA (Senior status in the Federation of Canadian Artists) after my name. I have extra initials! My three paintings in the Success exhibition are "Montreal Staircase", "Out to Pasture", and "Still". When I look at the other paintings in the exhibition, I feel honoured to be included in such great company. A huge thank you is going out to the Federation and the fellow artists who awarded signature status to us. And congratulations to all of the artists in the exhibition! |
