I just got an early Christmas present! I'm thrilled to share that "Mill Street" was accepted into the National Oil and Acrylic Artists Society Fall International Online Exhibition!! Only 200 out of over 1600 entries from around the world made it into the show, and I'm honoured to be among them for the second year in a row. Please do visit the exhibition - there's a lot of great work there! You can see the actual painting at Arta Gallery in the Distillery District, Toronto. Since my last post, I finished the latest in my Prague Rooftops series and a large view of a small Rome street. It's the view from the window of the apartment I rented when I was last there before the time of Covid. I love the tonal range in the plaster and roof tiles, although getting it right was frustrating for a while. Several areas were done over several times! Now I'm working on another bike painting - big enough that I need two easels to support it! This time the bike is in the city, with black wrought-iron railings behind, contrasting with a flat stone wall. I can't help thinking of Henri Matisse - maybe I'll call it "Henri's Bike". I'll wait til it's done before making the title permanent, though. I never know exactly how things will turn out in the end. Happy and safe holidays to everyone!! Carol |
