I'm excited to share that "Out to Pasture" won an Honourable Mention in the AcrylicWorks 10 competition sponsored by The Artists Magazine! It will be featured, along with all the other awardees, in a special September issue of the magazine. Look for it! I'm also happy to let you know that "Pretty in Pink" was accepted into the 95th Grand National Exhibition in New York, sponsored by the American Artists Professional League. This exhibition is an international show of representational art and will run at the Salmagundi Club, at 47 Fifth Ave. in Manhattan, from November 6-24. This is my third time qualifying for the Grand National in the last four years - it's still amazing to me that my work will be shown alongside the incredible pieces selected for the show. The AAPL has started a series of weekly Instagram live interviews of member artists. Jon Bandish, a Philadelphia artist and a board member of the AAPL, leads a 30-minute chat every Thursday at 5pm Eastern time. I'm on the hot seat for the September 28 edition. Tune in live, or watch the recorded interview if you can't connect then. Check out the previous interviews at https://instagram.com/aapl_nyc and mark your calendar for the 28th! I just gave a talk to members of the Toronto chapter of the Federation of Canadian Artists last Tuesday about my work and painting process. The feedback was great, and I had a good time despite the large number of butterflies zooming around my insides. This talk was not recorded, as far as I know. Thanks to the chapter for giving me the opportunity to share! |
