So, it's back to landscapes for a while. The stencil paintings are fun, but I feel compelled to portray the land. This one is just finished, although it's been in the works for a month. I started out sketching the bones of the scene, then allowed the colours and forms to guide me as the piece developed. I like looking at this now that it's finished. Sometimes, after finishing a painting, I'm done thinking about it and want to move on to something else. This one, though, still draws me in. I have it leaning against the wall where I can steal glances at it while reading a book, or watching TV, or just passing by. I like the suggestions of the vegetation and land form, but the lack of realistic detail. Visually, I still walk into the scene to smell the grass, and feel the temperature of the water. What do you think? |
