| Many people have asked how the ArtSidaX auction went last week. It was a lot of fun, with all 48 pieces at auction selling, including "Mountain Shadows", my entry. AIDS Community Care Montreal, the sponsor of the auction, raised over $50,000 at the event. I bought a painting by another of the participating artists, Jeremy Price. It feels good knowing that I not only helped support the cause, but I'm also getting to meet and support more local artists. This week I'm working on a seashore piece, more in the style of "Watering Hole" from the Trans-Canada project and "Stream", a painting that is going on show in London, England later this month and will be in New York in June. It's a looser, more expressionistic style that I enjoy working in as it allows my imagination to run away with my brush. You'll be able to see the finished piece at one of my shows this summer at Galerie 203. Dates are still being confirmed, but many pieces from the Trans-Canada 150 project will be up around Canada Day, and a solo show of recent work is being planned for the end of July. For those of you who will be in the Toronto area, Arta Gallery is showing my work in the summer also. I'll be busy! |
