It has taken a long time to complete this painting and it led me on quite a journey. Here it is in progress. I got stuck on having a distant shoreline at the top of the painting, creating a horizon at the top of the composition that kept drawing my eyes upward to it. It only took me three months to obliterate it so that the viewer's eye stays more on the rocks in the foreground. No more competition from the distant shoreline on the horizon. Its funny how we can't see something so obvious and often focus on something that is really not the problem. In many ways, this painting is representative of our times spent in isolation. I find myself focusing on the isolation part at times, instead of looking past it and focusing on the ability we have to be able to connect with those we care about - only now from a distance. The picture began as a winter scene with cool light blues and slowly turned into spring as the seasons changed here in Montreal. So feel free to tell me what you think of it. |

I think it stunningly simple with complicated detail. I love the whole colour palette, to me you have used every colour to perfection..would like to see this one in person.
