Fresh off the easel and available through Arta Gallery in the Toronto Distillery District! The latest addition to my City series is this bright red Toronto streetcar. The bold red and the glare off the windshield drew my attention to this scene. I wanted to capture the sense of movement and bustle of the city, with its hard surfaces and manufactured objects serving, yet obscuring, its people. It's close up, overflowing the frame, sparkling with reflected and broken light that gives hints of the surrounding buildings. Its doors are open to welcome people in, but we can only see bits of the anonymous occupants who are impatient to move on. Mark your calendars!! I just heard that "Cobblestones" has won an award at the Northwest Watercolor Society "Waterworks" exhibition. I'll find out which award at the livestreamed Awards Reception on April 22 at 6pm Pacific (9pm Eastern). Join me with a glass of wine as we tune in to the reception on the NWWS website (nwws.org)! |
